What Do You Use For Internet Access?
The most asked question we get is, "What are you using for internet access?". Steve has done a lot of research for us and we use a combination of equipment and plans to have the most options for internet access in a variety of places. Below you will find the links for the equipment we use and love. Of course, there will be places that we just cannot get access to the internet but with this setup-if there is any signal available we can magnify it and use it.
Our set up is multi part. One outdoor section consists of two pieces of one inch threaded steel pipe that we purchased at Home Depot. One section is 10 foot and one is 5 foot. We broke it up to allow it to fit into our bays easily for storage. The height is up to you and what you are comfortable with installing at each campsite and storing for travel. For us, we attach it to our roof ladder on the back of our motor home with zip ties. The permanent mounted outside antenna is very small. We attached it to the top of our bathroom roof vent cover with tiny screws. We chose this area as it is close to where our office setup is inside. You can choose whatever area works best for you. If you decide to attach it to your RV roof, be sure to coat the area good with Dicor sealant to prevent possible leaks.
Our indoor setup is simply the Mofi router and signal booster antenna that sit on our desk and the cables are ran through a side window.
For cell phone plans we keep our options open. We primarily use Verizon for our personal phones and tablets. We generally have great service with Verizon. However, we use T-Mobile and AT&T for our data we use for our MOFI router. We have a tablet with each cell provider and use whichever works best for the area we are in.
Overall it is super easy to setup and use but if you find you need help with any of the below equipment that you purchased using our affiliate links, please email us and we will be glad to point you in the right direction.

Router Using Device Sim Card
The Mofi router has been key to us accessing the internet. We use one of our sim cards from a tablet and place it in the router and we then use the data on our plan to access the internet without worrying about using up hotspot data. We currently run two computers, two TVs, and all our data using devices on our Mofi. You will need post-paid service for your sim card you use the device from-prepaid (no contract) service device sims will not work.
MIMO Antennae
We use this antennae with our Mofi router to get better signal without putting up our big antennae. It mounts directly to your RV. MIMO means Multiple In Multiple Out which means instead of getting signal from only one tower this antennae can get signal from multiple towers. This increases your signal strength and reception. It is a great all around antennae especially for the reasonable price point.
Omni Directional Antenna
This antenna we use by attaching it to a 15 foot steel pole we attach to our ladder on the back of our motor home. This antenna receives signal no matter which direction it is coming from. There is no need to aim this antenna.
Cell Phone Signal Booster
This device is also attached to our 15 foot steel pole. It comes with a directional antenna and a booster antenna for inside your RV. This device takes a week signal and boosts it to something more usable. Of course it cannot boost a nonexistent signal but it can help for those spots that have extremely weak signal or continuously dropping signal. It often makes the difference if we can use our phones inside our RV or if we need to go outside and "hunt" for a signal.
Dual Polarized MIMO Antenna
We also have this attached to our steel pole outside our RV to increase our signal strength. It is cross polarized-The antenna features two independent antennas with cross-polarization, increases signal strength and data speeds for remote sites with poor cellular signal coverage.
